The importance of concentration

Gathering the mind into focus or concentration requires a prior concentration of the will. The mind is focused because the will is focused on one object. The mind influences the form created by the will. These exercises are intended not only to train the mind to obey the will, but also to train the will to control the mind. We speak of strengthening the will, but what we really mean is training the mind to obey and the will to command. Our will is strong enough, but we are not aware of it. The root of the will lies in the very center of our being – in our “I”, but our imperfectly developed mind does not recognize this. The will is the basis of all actions and all deed-mental and physical.

Let us look around and see that the main difference between people who have moved forward in all areas of life and those who remain in the general ranks is determination, will and energy. A commanding will make men giants.

The main obstacle to the proper use of the will in most people is the lack of ability to focus attention. These exercises are designed to overcome this difficulty.

Attention is the outward sign of an active will, since attention is subject to the higher authority of the "I". It forces the will to act or holds it, directs it in turn to different objects, and focuses attention on any object for as long as the will can stand. The effort of attention or the self-direction of the mind to some object is one of the main manifestations of the will. Attention, as it were, pulls the mind in one direction and directs it to the object.

A trained will manifests itself in steady attention, which is extremely rare and can only be seen among people with strong minds. Everyone can direct attention to some pleasant thing that accidentally strikes him, but it takes a highly trained will keep attention on an unattractive thing for a long time. Strong-willed attention is very rare and can only be found among people with strong character, but it can be cultivated and grown so successfully that a person who has almost no attention can eventually become a giant in this regard. It is a matter of practice, exercise and desire.

It is difficult not to emphasize the benefits of developing persistent and tenacious attention. A person with such a developed ability can accomplish much more than the most brilliant mind without persistent attention. The best way to train your attention under the control of the will is to practice on uninteresting objects and ideas, holding them in front of your mind until you start to show interest in them.

This is difficult at first, but soon the task will seem pleasant because the person will feel that his willpower and attention are growing, and he will gain new strength and power that he did not have before. He begins to feel that he is becoming much stronger.

Reasoning about will and attention may seem a little dry, but to achieve the goal, you need to do some training. This is the secret behind the science of Rulilulvis. The ancient sages of the Caucasus achieved a degree of concentrated will and attention that would seem completely incomprehensible to an ordinary person. Thanks to this ability, they could direct their minds to and fro, to the outer world or to the inner world, with great power. They were able to focus their minds with extraordinary intensity on the smallest thing, just as the rays of the sun are brought into focus by an incendiary glass, and could set fire to wool. In other words, we can (after hard training) send our mind wherever we want, with extraordinary energy, illuminating everything it touches, just as we use a beam of light from an electric searchlight that runs from place to place. Try to cultivate attention and will, practice on unpleasant things, try to do what you previously avoided because it seemed unpleasant, try to take an interest in the task ahead and the difficulties of solving them will significantly weaken. You will come out of this struggle much stronger with a sense of new power. And finally, let us repeat: I have a will, which is my inalienable property and my right. I decide to cultivate and develop the will through practice and exercise. My mind is obedient to my will. I assert my will over the mind, because I am the master of my mind and body and I assert this dominion. My will is a source of strength, energy, and power. I feel my power. I am strong and full of energy. I am full of life. I am the center of consciousness, energy, strength, and power, and I demand what is rightfully mine.
